Leathercraft
Seeing different things at the Ren Fair a few weeks ago made me want to get into leather craft. Whenever I have money again i'll be making a medieval style purse, or sporran, probably.



I'd also have to make a binder like the ones in the bottom right corner of this picture, I think it's made from glass eyes and vinyl or craft leather plus some thin felt and good book binding glue..she had a bunch of stuff at the ren faire but it was a bit too expensive for me.

The group is actually open to allies but, not to pick a fight, a quick glance at your journal actually made me pretty uncomfortable. Your Harisu post was hella objectifying to begin with, and then you throw around the word "tranny" like it's popcorn. "Tranny" is a gross word that many trans people consider a slur. I think of it like the n-word or "faggot"... a word that should mostly be avoided by those not in the group in question.

I guess maybe Hazel feels differently? If so that's cool. But I thought I'd share another trans chick's perspective. A good recent discussion on "tranny" is here.

I don't believe in political correctness though I tend to keep that to myself. I would suggest you not look for insult where there is none intended. As to my feelings on TG you may wish to research further. I suggest contacting either serendipitygirl or soquili_gitli as they will share a no-bullshit opinion on my personality, for good and bad.

I'm a Texas boy. We don't take things personally here. That includes my friends and coworkers calling stuff they dislike gay. I don't mind it. :)

That's great for you. It must be fun to stomp around in those big 'ole Texan boots of yours not giving a shit about other peoples' feelings.

It's not political correctness. It is basic decency. It's particularly important for members of a majority to practice this toward members of a minority, especially an oppressed one like gays or trans people.

I know no insult was overtly intended, but the language we use is extremely important. "Tranny" is a word with serious baggage. It causes real-world pain. I wanted to inform you of this because there is more to being an ally than exhibiting basic tolerance. Do with this info what you will.

The artist who did my icon was known as HMO / Rotekatzen. Sadly she no longer takes commissions :(

Or completes them for that matter. She still owes me a full picture commission.

Actually, I thought your post the other day was a lil insensitive, Poofy. I have to agree about the word tranny being much like the n-word. I don't like being labeled, either, but, it's your journal and I knew you didn't mean any offence. I did seriously consider schooling you about the word usage but decided not to and posted that sillyness instead to kind of let ya know.
